My .02: For the same price as an oil analysis I can just buy a filter & fill crankcase with Mobile1 at 5k
True, but you don't have to do an analysis after every change. If you do it once and find out that you can go to 10k, then it pays for itself after the next change.
Basically, it can give you a good baseline to know whether your interval can be stretched out or not.

+1 - In addition, it gives you a window into how your motor is wearing mechanically. It's something that only needs to be done periodically.
The Blackstone report below was done on my bike at 78,675 miles, with 4,575 miles on the oil. The bike has been run on Mobil-1 15w-50 "automotive" oil since the 1,000 mile service. You don't have to fully understand all the numbers, as the Comments section gives a decent description of the motor and oil's condition.
You'll note the suggestion to try a 6,000 mile interval for the next oil change. I'm not looking to extend the change interval, but it's nice to know that the oil is capable of doing so.
Also depends on where you live. If you live in a hot climate like some of us here in SE Texas the oil will break down faster due to extreme heat. Lucky this year it was not as hot as it was last year.

Also if you live in a cooler region, if the oil does not get above 180 no matter how much you ride condensation will build up and the 1500 mile severe service OCI will be needed. Condensation is much worse than riding in hot all the time.
When time comes that my oil no longer gets above 180 I make a note of the miles and change it in another 1500 miles or 5000 total, which ever comes first.
