my wifes 07 883l is not starting. turn key on, run switch, you hear the fuel pump kick on, hit the start button and it will fire up then die. it spit out the code for the crank sensor, $61 and it is still doing the same thing. the it spit out code for front injector open/low. anyone ever have this problem or any advice.
If you repeat the procedure does it start again right away or does it need some time?
Does it run for exactly the same amount of time each time? if so does it shorten the run time if you hold the throttle partially open when starting?
yes it just keeps repeating every time, if you give it gas it runs shorter sometimes, but it only runs for a second. every time it dies the fuel pump kicks on.
Sounds like the fuel pump to me.
If it was electrical it would run the same amount of time regardless of how much fuel it's using.
Sounds like the pre/prime builds enough pressure to start it but won't keep up once the injectors are firing.
I'm not near my service manual right now but there should be a procedure for checking flow volume, normally you would disconnect the line and run the pump for a given amount of time and measure how much fuel flowed into a container.
it cost no $ but a minute to swap the fuel and starter relays. Since it is related to fuel system, I would suggest swapping the two relays first. My old relay could keep the engagement, so bike lose engine power randomly until I replace them..
