Cool 1200CA Mirrors

I'm a proud owner of a 1200CA Sportster but have a problem in that I cannot see anything directly behind me, I see my shoulders very well, the mirrors are not good.

I have thought of buying the long stemmed mirrors and would appreciate any help from fellow riders.

HD mirror extensions only place the mirror higher AFAIK, but to resolve the issue and have your rear view not obstructed by your arms, you need to move them laterally, to the outside.

Some folks suggest to move the mirrors below the bar, but that would mean to look way down and away from your riding direction in front of you, which I personally don't like.

This is what I did: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/12240066-post16.html.

I used these on my roadking, and they work great, move the mirrors out about 1.5 inches I am sure they would work for you..

Flip the mirrors upside down. The right goes on the left and the left on the right. The view then is completely open as you're now looking ~8inches or so outside your ribs and not through your shoulders.

It's a little different at first but is actually more in line with glancing at your speedo (if it's still stock).

I did this to my 2013 1200 Custom and couldn't be happier.

Yes it is possible with the Custom tank. You just have to find the right angle for the stem then adjust your mirrors before tightening. The best part is it's a free mod. I also think it cleans the lines of the bike up a bit.

If you don't like it you can always spend money later on a different solution.

Good luck!
