Tom,
I am encounter trouble ever single time I see your avatar.
Yes, I have 2 sony digtal cameras. One is old. About 5 years old. This thing has been in the wind, rain and freezing cold when i am out hunting and fishing. Then one day it didnt work. Had the extended warrenty and they fixed it. Meantiem I buy another for home use, never in the boat or in the field.
Then the old one comes back and it works for a short time, and breaks again, the small window doent open all the way. They fixed it and it works.
So, when I carrying the thing while I ride, I put it my pocket when I can. When I cant, I put it in that luggage that goes on the rack, and make sure it is not loose to bounch. While riding I have never had a problem.
I have never had a problem. Usually carry it in my coat pocket...for those Kodak moments on the road (too hard getting off my bike and digging through luggage compartments). I know they can't handle a lot of moisture or dirt, but I have never heard bouncing or vibrations cause a problem. They are no different that anything else that is electronic.

Anyone incountered trouble with there camera after it bounces around when you take it for a ride?
Tom
Well, I wouldn't advise letting it dangle by it's strap. That could damage it, especially if itdrags on the ground @ 70mph for extended periodsof time.j/k. Camera cases have been know to work well IMO...

I repair electronics everyday and can tell you without a doubt, vibration most certainly can cause problems. Loose battery compartment contacts, fractured solder joints, loose wires all can cause intermittent or long term problems. Fact is, besides moisture, vibration is the leading cause of problems in electronics.
For the most part the dampening effect of putting it in a coat pocket or wrapping it in a small towel should be sufficient enough to thwart any problems.
