Default Another Ape / cable question?!?!

I've searched, and I don't know if anyone could answer this or not. I just bought a set of stock 72 bars off another forum member to put on my iron 883. Does anyone know if I will need to replace all cables? I have read with other bars in the 10" rise category that you can get away with everything but the brake line, although these bars are wider than lets says a 10" licks z bar. Anyone?? I don't wanna spend 200 for a cable kit, unless I have to.

Cool

Yes, because they are wider. I put a 7.5 inch new bars on mine, I only had to replace the brake line. However, if they were higher or wider I would have to replace them all.

Good luck bro

I put stock mini apes ( 72 bars) on my iron and you only have to change the front brake cable, other cables will reach. The only problem I found is they look too wide at the bottom for the irons so I changed mine to 12" narrow apes and then I had to add some wiring and change clutch cable but still used original throttle cables.

Default source for brakelines

I bought a custom length braided stainless steel brake line from these guys:

http://www.helperformance.us

Took a week to get it, high quality. You can specify any length you need. If you are going to go to the trouble of replacing the brake line make sure you get a braided stainless steel one. Marked improvement in brake feel over the stock line.

Agree entirely, in fact it's a worthwhile upgrade for any bike, stock or modified.

A lot of guys talk about just bending brake lines and that will make it reach, but i would definately advise you to just buy a new line. With the HD mini Apes and a new line, youre looking at around 150 dollars if you shop around.

So you didn't have to extend the electrical wiring at all? just the brakeline?
