Needed outer diameter for the fat front tire on 2011+ Sportster
Well ... as the title says I need the outer diameter for the fat front tire on 2011+ Sportster XLC. Basically the distance between the point where the tire touches the ground to the highest point on top.
I am working on determining the fitment of a 2008 Heritage Softail front fender for my front wheel and need your help in getting the right measurements. I know someone over at XLForum has done it on their 2013 Sportster 1200 XLC but both 2011+ Sporty and 2008 Heritage Softail have 16" wheel whereas I have a 18" SuperLow wheel with 120mm tire (stock) on front.
You make it sound like no one is willing to help you out by going out in their garage and measuring for you. I just asked why cant you measure your own instead of putting the blame on other people. If I had one I would go out and measure it for you. I'm just busting your *****. Seemed like a strange question and response to your own post no one replied to.
You can help yourself by simply checking the website of your preferred brand, or working it out on first principles. An MT90B16 or 130/90 x 16 tyre (same thing) has a theoretical diameter as follows:
130 x 0.90 = 117mm. Multiply by 2 = 234mm. Convert to inches: 234 / 25.4 = 9.2 inches.
Add to rim diameter: 9.2 + 16 = 25.2 inches. Simples!
Not all tyre brands give rolling diameters, but according to their website an Avon Cobra MT90B16 is 25.1 inches. Near as damn it the same.
Mine (2014 1200C) measures 30 inches, give or take a little. I could not see the exact tape measure reading while sitting on the bike holding it upright.
Thank you so much grbrown and John! This definitely gives the info I was looking for.
PLloyd4: Didn't mean to come off as offensive or anything. You see, I have a measuring tape but not a 2011+ Sportster XLC with fat front tire. Hence the original post.
Hey there King, I attached a link that i've been using. Pretty cool tire size calculator. Gives you a nice little overlay image of 2 different tire sizes if your comparing sizes, also gives you the specific dimensions too. It might help ya out.

I'm an oaf. Yesterday I measured before I had my coffee and screwed it up. I went out again (After Coffee) and measured again. The diameter is very close to 24 inches.
