so this tank swelling thing isn't really a big problem, it just causes a gap between the cover & tank? If that's all that isn't a big deterrent from buying one of these bikes.

they do look very cool and they definitely have a sporty seating position, it's a tall bike with a hard seat, but I guess that is typical for this class of motorcycle..

The XR was launched in 2006 in the UK and International markets, long before it was launched in North America and I'm fairly certain it continued for a short while after it was discontinued in NA. We still get the XL883R, even though you chaps don't. So the XR has been around a lot longer than just those two years and parts availability should be better than a NA dealer might believe.
