If you're happy with look and fit of current seat then take it to upholstery shop. They'll replace cheap *** foam with thicker and better I did it on my leather Brawler $55.

Generally speaking , soft seats are pretty bad after some miles in a day.
That said , a properly fitted semi hard seat is the way to go.
I put a Mustang on my 06 FLHT which had a soft stock seat , the Mustang was a brick , but I heard they take a while to break in.
It really took about 1,000 miles to break in and I never noticed my seat ever again.
Thing is with seats , a good one you never notice , a bad one you get to enjoy over and over till you get a good one .....

Thanks. This seat has been on the bike for 35k from what I understand and it is hard, doesn't look like it, but is once you are on it for a while.

The PO's new seat on their bike was a flat board w/cow hide and a 1/2" piece of foam.
He showed it to me when I picked this one up.
That might tell you how thy likes their seats.

Momma rubbed my butt last night and said maybe I need to get you a seat -

The other culprit for your pain-in-the-behind might be the Burley shocks. They look awfully short thus not offering any dampening (cushion) travel.

I removed them last week but I agree, they didn't help much at all. 10.5" shock.

I have zero air pressure in the air shocks and I found out last night that even though some run zero air pressure that I maybe should run 3-5lbs to get a softer ride.

So I'm looking to buy a pump.

Thanks,
Jim

There are three components of comfort IMHO. Your air shocks should improve life as also will a better seat as we've been discussing. The third component and often over-looked are the tyres. Stock ones might as well be made of wood, they are so stiff, but a change of brand can give a more compliant and comfortable ride, when the time comes. Small improvements on three fronts adds up!

Thank you. I have the HD tires on there from the PO.
They are practically new, still have the rubber **** and blue line on the tread.
I heard they are not that great but I have to wait.
A friend of mine has Avon.

Thanks again,
Jim
