I will say this first I replaced the needle first thing yesterday. I have a 1994 883.
My problem is this it will barely seep out the overflow tube overnight. It started this last fall then winter set in. I have rebuilt this carb more then once.
It runs perfect it does not seep out the tube for hours. I ran it yesterday and I got home around 4pm. I left the petcock on to see if it does it still. Around 11pm there was no seepage at all I get up this morning there is the small amount of seepage I am talking maybe 2 ounces. I am trying to figure this out any ideas?
TIA
Barry In MO.
Sounds like you need a new float valve and/or float. Or it needs to be adjusted. Or there's a piece of crud stuck in the valve seat. If that doesn't fix it your valve seat is probably nicked, which means you need to replace the carb body. I've got a useless carb sitting on my shelf that has this problem, the valve seat is damaged and not replaceable.
It helps if you have a good magnifier or jeweler's loupe to inspect the valve seat.
