There's a ton of good info and people here, sprinkled in with a few a**hats who like to stir it up. Like any other forum, just ignore and don't feed the trolls. You may have to wade through some bs from time to time but this site is pretty good in comparison to a few others.
Ps your join date is earlier than a lot of guys who posted in this thread already, you're not as new as you think.

yes, it is a pain and frusterating when you get a bunch of answers to questions you didn't ask...I have found that if you ask your question carefully worded it helps to cut down on the chatter...and putting a clause in the question such as " I am in need of someone with personal experience in this matter", helps, but doesn't not eliminate the BS.
if u wanna try something crazy ask whats the best oil for your bike you will get a million diff answers and some people will give scientific breakdown answers
I feel for ya.My motorcycle background was racing and it was on yamaha's in the early 90's.Life got in the way and haven't been on a bike since, this spring I will be riding an iron 883 to get my feet wet .
A million question ran threw my head about Harley but found this site and became friends with the search button, which helped. But your right for every question there is 50 answers some great and some so off topic its hilarious.

I have posted a few questions on here and have read a bunchmore others have asked… there sure does seem to be a bunch that really don’tcontribute to the question, just say how it’s a bad idea, can’t be done, or buya new bike… I’m just saying as a new guy, that isn’t helpful at all…
You should have seen the oil cooler $#!7storm a few months ago. People were drawing lines all in the sand! It had to be closed. Egos and negativity all over the place.
Folks can be negative. I am super negative towards butchering bikes to make cliché "cafe" bikes, chain conversions, lowered shocks, and "old school" official... aka stupid stuff.... anything fun... I'm against.
LOL.
but I'm an idiot.
Most folks are helpful though. I learn new stuff everyday. I love HD forums. Get thicker skin, man. its cool here. I was on vtwin before and it would get ugly all the time. Egos and anger
You could ask for the refund of your forum membership fee.
.
Tried that once, when a moderator yelled at me for mentioning the fact that there are searchable pdf versions of service manuals available. I goaded him for a refund.. nothing.... lol. Fruitless endeavor.
