I fired up the old girl and noticed something interesting.
The fron left turn signal stays illuminated - it flashes and all bulbs seem to be fine - but the front left never turns off.
I've checked the service manual and I went through a few flow charts but I didn't see this particular issue. I thought maybe it was something simple that I am over thinking.
Check for all bulbs to be burnt out including the idiot lights for the turn signals. If they all are still fine, replace the bad one with a new one. I've had weird things go on with bulbs that appeared fine that were fixed with a new bulb.

Cool deal - I'll check all bulbs and update thusly.
Are you referring to the auto-canceling feature or do you mean you can't manually turn it off? If it's the auto-canceling feature then the module is bad or stuck. The module detects speed and/or lean to guess when you want the signal to stop flashing. If your speedometer is acting up as well you may want to check your speed sensor.

Good day - I am referring to when I turn the key to the on position, the headlight comes on as well as the front left signal.
Are you sure it's not a case of the right signal not staying on? On the 02 hugger I just picked up, the signals stay on as running lights. One of mine wouldn't stay on because of a loose wire. You should check the signal that's turning off to make sure it's working properly.

You sir are the winner!
I swapped bulb positions with the other side and the problem followed the bulb. The front bulbs are a dual element. One being the running light and the other being the flasher. Ordinarily when a bulb is out, one will remain solid... BUT since the part of the bulb that was broken wasn't interconnected with the flasher circuit, none of the flasher troubleshooting steps were helpful.
It is the case of in fact the RIGHT running light element on the dual bulb is out. The other giveaway is that the front bulbs have TWO contacts on the bottom and in the socket whereas the rear bulbs are one and one.
Thanks everyone! Now this thread will remain on for other NEWBS like me to search and see!
I'm glad you got it all figured out. I hate electrical problems with a PASSION. Luckily most of the harness on a motorcycle is somewhat easily accessible, but finding something like a ground issue on a big automobile... BAH!

By trade, I've been an electronics technician for the Coast Guard for that last almost 14 years. So electrical problems, although frustrating, are not as daunting.
I get more nervous when someone mentions taking the carb apart and cleaning it out.
