Default Spring Seat Questoin

Now I know people have asked seats about questions on here hundreds of times but I had my own specific question about the spring solo seats. I have heard they are rather comfortable for long trips and yada yada.

My question is how are they on a windy road as far as comfort and performance (performance being do you stay planted without effort and can you maneuver weight to one side easily.) I'm not talking about just lazy turns on a cruise, more so scraping the stock exhaust of the Iron that we all know and hate.

I realize the slipperiness depends on the material used but any personal experiences people have had with this would be nice to hear.

I find that I'm planted much better to the seat with the springer. When moving your hips while turning felt much different though.

Cool

The seat's comfort lasts about 100 miles. On my 72, that's great.

I find that the seat does not affect normal handling in any way.

On the contrary, I felt a little wobble in the beginnings, but you'll get accustomed to, just like the counter steering we all apply without thinking about it...

Main point here being the seat's front hinge which has to be set without too much play, it has to go up & down, not sideways.

I agree, and the spring seat being taller raises the center of gravity some..but nothing bad, and they are more comfortable all around...the only issue I have with the spring seat is on real hard bumps you can get lifted off of the seat for a second, actually that is part of the charm, it is like riding a vintage bike that way...

They are very comfortable on long rides Kevin(DK) actually had a Spring Solo Seat on the sportster when he went on the hot bike tour.

You are correct it will depend on what type of material you use, most people find it that the Spring Solo Seat does not affect everyday riding.

Hope this helps out

I really appreciate all the input. I talked to guya from work who used to have them and what not and I will just have to ride a bike with one i guess. I understand how they would be comfortable for everyday riding but I really wanted to know how they work with the occasional ride where you get to those few turns and just want to go ***** to the wall.
Thanks for all your knowledge, i appreciate it.

I have the Harley Spring seat on my 48. I installed it a couple of months after I got the Bike. I think it is great! The ride is much better than stock (I also have the touring air shocks). There is a tendency to bounce a bit over hard bumps but nothing severe.
Very good addition and it looks great. I ride solo on this bike so no worry about passenger pillion seat.
