Anything is possible, by the time you change out the cams, computer, other FI stuff. You might as well trade it off for an 07. IMO

There are kits available. I think they are pricey. Most that do it are racing types. Not a lot of interest in street riders doing it.

Well, I am the other way around, big carb fan here, that's why I bought the last 06 carburetor model.

I'm kinda jealous of the carbed bikes. You just can't recreate that idle with a fuel injected bike.

If I'd known the 2007 sportster was going to be EFI, I would have waited to buy mine. Unless you are EXTREMELY lucky, a carb bike will never run as good or as reliable as EFI. I can't wait until I can justify trading or selling my bike to get a fuel injected one. If only I had done my research on what aggrevation so many people including myself have gone through to get a stage 1 done right, and those stupid azz, embarassing carb farts taken care of, I would of, could of , should of, bought a late model EFI Dyna or softail. Its sad when you have to keep other riders waiting, cause your bike has to "warm up" before taking off. I'm just venting, and for the most part my bike runs pretty good now, but had I known the amount of money I was going to sink into a BRAND NEW modern motorcycle just to get it to run right which I believe HARLEY could have done back at their factory, I could have hada EFI softail and not have to do anything but turn the key and ride. I still love H-D motorcycles but maybe I stillhave some buyers remorse with my carbed Sporty.

The thing is, you should ALWAYS let a sportie warm up properly before you take off, some thing to do wth the barrels& heads being made of different metals & therefore expanding at different rates as they heat up. Giving a sportie too many revs before she's warmed up can cause leaking head gaskets.

You cannot install EFI cheaply or easily. You are better off just trading in your bike unless you want a really big project to work on. You need sensors, ECM, fuel pump, and stronger charging system. Lots of changes have been made to 07 models to stick the EFI on there. Besides, if you like to do performance work, then EFI is not the way to go. It is much much more expensive than a carb to adjust.

I disagree with that. Everything else I have ever owned was EFI and I really wouldn't know my sportster had a carb if it wasn't for having to pull out the enricher. It runs just as good as anything with FI that I have owned.

Its sad when you have to keep other riders waiting, cause your bike has to "warm up" before taking off.
I don't have this problem. You do realize you can take off and then slowly push in the enricher as you ride right?

but had I known the amount of money I was going to sink into a BRAND NEW modern motorcycle just to get it to run right which I believe HARLEY could have done back at their factory, I could have had a EFI softail and not have to do anything but turn the key and ride.
The make it run right statement is just what people use to justify their stage 1. People who have owned EFI big twins still claim you have to do stage 1 to get the EFI bikes to "run right".

First off... Dude, slow down and smell the roses...

Secondly... A warm-up on any motor EFI or not is one of the better things you can do for the long gevityof the engine...

I don't see where a minute or two is going to make that big of a difference in the grand scheme of things anyway...

The cost of a conversion like that would beway up there compared to what you paid for a stage one...

Not to worry though... the next new Harley you get will be EFI for sure...

Me... I have nothing against EFI... but I sure do like my carburator...

Ride safe...
