I have a 09 XL, iron. Front end squeaks when going over moderate bumps in the road. Anyone have any idea what it could be? I've ruled out the tank lift so far and the rest kinda goes above my ability. Thanks!
Try using tape or bungies to temporarily relocate all cables & hoses (clutch, throttle, brake) and take it for a run, that will at least eliminate those if it's still squeaking.
Well, squeak implies rubber or dry metal to metal.
Are you sure it is the front end?
You tried bouncing to no effect so OK.
Maybe it is flex.
Lube and retorque front axle. Retorque triple clamp bolts.
Check front fender and headlight mounting and eyebrow.
I'd be surprised if the brake components had anything to do with this, but look them over anyway.
There's not much on the front end to check.
Other areas check rear swing arm attaching bolts...these do come loose.
Check motor mounts.
Other guesses - check seat, check battery, rear fender for looseness.
