I dropped my bike off at the dealer to have the back tire changed. They said the axle was not lubed well at the factory and it needs to be replaced.Warrenty work. Anyone ever hear of this? Seems a little odd. Now I have no bike this weekend because the axle wont be in until monday. [:@]
Most likely they buggered up your axel when removing the wheel. They usually put the new guy on tire changes and he probably went at the axle with a hammer instead of a rubber mallet. Hopefully they didn's screw up your bearings as well. If the "Axle" wasn't lubed I can only guess as to what the hell your bearings came out like...and that inturn your hub.
Time to make Lemonade out of Lemons... In this case, you should be grateful they found it NOW, instead of when the warranty was gone and the axle had badly worn and needed replaced anyway.
I'm not savvy enough on Sportsters to know how this could happen, but anything is possible. The weather may be nice now, but you'll be happier (later) knowing you don't have that problem to face down the road (and on your own dime...)

Lesson learned...find another mechanic.
Yup, that was my thinking. They messed it up. He was trying to say it was bent....
The bike was as smooth as glass over 100 mph and the axle was bent the whole timebecause of nogrease...yeah right.
Only thing you need to lube the axel on the new bikes is some anti-seize. Because of the sealed bearings, nothing back there really requires major lubing. You can see this whole procedure and confirm what I just said by watching the Sportster version of the Fix My Hog DVD. www.fixmyhog.com
i know the first time i took my back wheel off it was frozen..i had to beat on it for a while..luckily it didntt bugger anything up,i sanded all the rust off of it and lubed it up..now it comes right out with no hammer at all..my guess is they buggered your threads up like stated earlier..now you suffer for the weekend..i would have told them to give me a demo bike till the supposed warranty work is being done..
