I do not use the kill switch. I am sure the only reason street cycles have them is due to requirements.

Ignition switch on all my HDs. It's easier & safer, like forgetting to turn off ignition & killing battery.

I think there was a thread on this before. I don't remember the consensus but the opinions varied some.

I use the kill switch and then key after I have the jiffy down. I relocated my ignition in May so reaching down to kill the engine would be a pain.

I use the key. If I use the kill switch I may forget to take the key out. The kill switch was designed for emergency shut down. And I imagine its on there because of federal regulation.

I hit the kill switch then turn the ignition off to turn off the lights too.
The problem with just turning off the ignition
Most people park it in gear
If the start button shorts (hey **** happens) and the run switch (kill switch) is on the bike moves unexpectedly.

I have the security jawn with the keyless fob. So the only way to turn the bike off is with the kill switch and that was from the manufacturer for whatever that is worth to you.

I use the kill switch, then turn off they key. I was told from a Harley dealer mechanic (take it for what it's worth) to use the kill switch because it tells the ECM to turn off the motor as opposed to just shutting off the power to the ECM which in turn kills the motor.

Dunno if it really matters....

I use the kill switch so if I have a problem while I'm riding, like the throttle sticking, I hit that instinctively instead of having to reach for the ignition.
