HOLY MOLY they sound great!!! I only did a short trip, as i haven't received the fuel controller yet but I'm really happy with the sound.
I have a problem with the rear 02 sensor though, its right up tight against the starter wiring... anyone else have this issue? i can't get it go work in any other place.
I also installed the RSD vintage bars and a Joker Machine intake. I haven't run the bar wired internally yet. Im going to do that when i do the tank lift and speedo and indicator relocation.
Looks good though right !!
(excuse the shitty garages. No one looks after their door. If they do, they worry someone will wonder whats inside lol)
THIS IS THE REAR O2 SENSOR. Might have to just modify the exhaust? as i definitely want to keep them now.
Nice!! I am seriously considering that Joker Machine air cleaner but wasn't sure how the contrast cut would look on my 72. Based on the photos, I think it actually looks pretty sharp. Once you get a few good runs on it, you will have to let me know if you run into any oil blowby.
I want to know what you're doing for the back pressure everyone says you need on the FI bikes with those short pipes to make it run properly. TTI's? Torque Cones? short baffles?
I didn't actually know it was a problem but I was going to get a set of torque inserts for sound, which I could also use on my V&H slip ons when I want it a bit quieter. Do these pipes not work well with FI bikes?

I keep hearing you've got to have something to create a little back pressure for the FI bikes to run properly,ie; TTI's, Torque cones, Baffles, etc. Otherwise you loose low or mid range torque.
I see lots of guys starting to use this style pipe but then switching back later saying they're too loud for them. Some I've contacted say they've used cut baffles & some torque cones. Some wont respond to questions.
IDK how good or bad they work personally. I'm no expert by any means. I do know everyone I've heard using these has decel popping.
Contact DK Customs to see what size TTI's they recommend & what they say about these pipes & back pressure needed.
P.S. 1 guy claims these cause your valves to burn being that short? IDK.
Please let me know what you find out & how they work for you as I'd like to go to shorter pipes also
They do sound great under acceleration but a bit 'tinny' when cruising. There's no getting away from the fact that they are seriously loud! I mean, i rode it into London today and people are putting their hands over their ears as i ride by lol. I haven't really noticed and low end slump, but then i have only had the bike a few weeks. I am ordering the smaller torque cones will see how i get on. I want the cones anyway as i might just put the slip ons back on, with the cones installed instead of the V&H baffle....will see.
I get a tonne of back firing on deceleration, but i didn't have any new exhaust gaskets when i installed the pipes. I just ordered a couple of Cometic ones, so i'll see if that stops some of the decal popping. I thought the cobra fuel controller would eliminate the popping, but it didn't do anything, so the gaskets must be an issue.
