Need some wisdom
New to the forum. And I've searched and searched for an answer to this question, and can't find it.
I have a 2006 1200 Low (carb). I got some of the awesome 80258-99A (baloney cut) SEII slip ons. I got them for $40 off Craigslist. The only thing they had wrong were some boot melt. That cleaned up easily (with the penny trick).
Here's where I'm stuck. I took the stock ones off and put the SEII ones on and they fit perfect. BUT, as I sat down to research if I HAD TO (not if I want to, but if I HAVE TO) mess with the carb at all, I couldn't find ANYONE saying they put these on a Sportster.
Again, they fit perfectly, so you might be thinking, "Duh...if the shoe fits!" But I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.
They sound AMAZING and I love them.
So the two question are:
1. Do the 80258-99A "fit?"
2. Do I have to do anything to the carb?
Thanks, guys!
Doing this is the Stage 1 you've heard about.
Let me be up front: I'm guessing on that part number. But I've been researching all evening and I CANNOT FIND A BALONEY CUT MUFFLER that is for an 06 1200. Seriously, it's driving me crazy!
The part number I gave above is the only thing that looks close. All the SEII's I'm finding for the 06 1200 are all slash cut, not baloney cut. But I know I have baloney cut on mine because I just installed them.
With respect to tuning...as mentioned, if you have stage 1 AC, it is probably a good idea to tune your bike so it doesn't run hot.
Here is a pic of the SEIIs

These are the 80424-04 Baloney Cut Screamin' Eagle ll mufflers.
Luckily I have the box they originally came in.
The end tab shows that they fit all Sportsters from 2004 and up , which means 2004-2013
The date on the end tab is 03/29/06 , I believe they were discontinued shortly after that.
If the carb is still really stock , you would want to set it up better , performance and fuel economy will be better when you're done.
The performance gained is definitely worth the money you'll spend , the stock carb is really nice to work with.
