Was coming home from a freakin long 11 hour day at work at the hospital, and took the back roads because I had to go back to my other office in the surgery center. There is a place that I know has much gravel from the snow season, so I am always careful on this corner because gravel scares me. Yea... I hit the gravel and my back tire slid out from under me and I went down and skidded to a stop. YES, I was wearing my helmet and my jacket with armour in it. The bike landed on my left leg, I managed to get my leg out... thank god it wasn't the pipe side. I actually lifted my bike by myself. I wish there was some way to bottle adrinolin ( sp)... My back hurts REALLY bad. my shoulder hurts. My leg hurts... I am still walking and ok though, so I guess it is ok. I will NEVER ride without my gear though. I would have lost LOTS of skin on my shoulder and side. My jacket saved me, and my jacket doesn't have a scratch. Pretty dang cool. And I didn't think that I hit my head but my helmet has a big scratch down the side of it, so I must have. The damage to my bike: my shifter peg was sheered off completely. Mirror broken, my windshield broken, my headlight bent, and my clutch lever is broken.Oh and the turnsignal lense is broken. but the paint...onelittle tinychip in the front fender. It could have been a whole lotworse.I would haveriddenit home, but was too in shock to remember that the reason that it wouldn't start was because of the safety thing that you have to turn it off for 5 seconds before it will start. Well, that and I didn't have a shift peg... guess I wouldn't have ridden it home. Would have helped on the long pushacross the street to the parking lot of the cemetary.I hurt really really bad, but I will live. I called the dealership before calling even my husband to come and get me. They came right out and got my bike and towed it in for me. They were really great to work with. Good to have buddies that work there. Anyway... it could have been much worse. I am alive and am not broken. My poor little yellow bike is, but she will be back out there in no time.
Glad you survived in relatively good shape. Heal up soon !
My wife crashed hard a couple of years ago, with full gear, saved her a lot of grief. There is something to be said for not riding in flip flops and shorts !!
Wow sorry to hear about that!! Hope you get better soon!. The second day I owned my old 883, I dumped it on myself. It took a month to heal from that one. I must have cracked some ribs and torn some muscles. I was in shear pain.
Glad you are okay.Like everyone says there are people that have went down and those that lie about it.I had two very close calls today.Almost got rear ended on the way to work when I slowed down for a school zone.Thank god I leanred evasive drivings skills in the safety couse. Then a old man making a left turn and I saw it coming and still had to brake hard enough for both tires to chirp. This is the most dangerous time of the year.Winter gravel and debris is still out there and cagers are not used to bikes being on the road yet.If they are ever used to bikes being on the road. The cager that almost rear ended me was on a cell phone. Is that a surprise?
Hate to hear what happened, but glad nothing was SERIOUSLY injured.Keep us posted when you make it back in the wind.Hope everything heals up fast for you.
Sorry to hear about your accident , glad your just banged up and nothing broken. And for the bike they can fix it better than new ! Don`t stay off it too longafter you get it back . An angel was watching youtoday........thanks God !
