Remember this piece of advice, Polishing is to show you where you need to sand more!I did it with 220 dry sandpaper, by hand, then went to 400 grit wet paper, by hand, then polished it with Jewlers Rouge (red stick type) using my right angle Die Grinder with a 1/2" by 4" cloth wheel. Then finished "em off with Mothers Aluminum polish by hand. I'm pleased with the time and effort,,, and the results.
If anyone else is looking to give this a try and doesn't want any down time, I have a pair of take offs from my '04 I'd be willing to part with. Just changed mine out and probably gonna put them on ebay. But if anyone here is interested, we can work something out.
Did you polish them on the bike? I am thinking to do the same, take them off for polishing but I only have time for riding lol. Definitely my winter project.
Same here, I plan on doing this during the down months (which is rare here in Cali)
