Hey Guys, Helping a buddy of mine out with a build (1997 XL1200) he is looking to put a wide springer front end on it with a 130/16 tire / wheel. We are running into a little it of confusion as far as what wheel will fit with a brake set up? can we put a heritage front wheel on the font of the springer and have rotor line up correctly for brake? Interested in hearing what you guys have done! thanks in advance!
Softail deluxe and or heritage have exclusive offset. These guys build to order http://www.ledsledcustoms.com/product/wide-springers. Not sure if you have springer already. I've converted a dyna and sportster to FL softail front end and the only wheel that lines up perfectly with rotor, caliper and centers wheel, is an FL softail wheel with correct axle and spacers. So if the springer you buy is designed for FL softail-thats the wheel you need. The dealer in my area has an 07 heritage springer-maybe if you found a springer from that bike you'd be okay. Softail fronts can be made to work on your year sporty-grinding probably required, Unless you buy one specifically made for sportster. I added the link to the bike at local dealer I referred above so you can study picture if it helps-you can probably find better photo examples using google. http://www.sonomacountyhd.com/defaul...OwnedInventory

Reason: Link to springer.
Couldn't get your top link to work. However, Now I am I understanding you correctly? Ultimate goal is springer front end with a 130x16 front tire. so we could order a springer for a softail, mount on sportster, and run the softail front wheel?
Don't hold me to it. Someone should know for sure.
But the way I see it is the heritage springer is an FL Softail Frame with a springer front end, right? So if the frame is the same an FL softail front end should bolt right up to the Heritage neck.
I have adapted an FL softail front end to a 2007 sportster. NOT SPRINGER It's even less work to adapt a FL softail front end to your 97. Google Fatster. You'll see theres less grinding involved for the pre rubber mount sportsters.
It just makes sense it would be possible. Sorry it's even confusing me when I go back and read what I wrote.
And if you want a company that builds and designs springers for sportsters exclusively google led sled customs, they fabricate their stuff in the U.S. I got floorboards for my sportster build from them. I say their stuff is top notch. You can hold me to that.
See my FL sportster build in my sig.
