Looking at putting mini apes on my 2006 sportster at some point. Looking at Harley's website it says the mini apes will only fit 2007 and up. Any reason these bars wouldn't fit on my 2006?
They'll fit.
The only thing I can think of that changed on the handlebars in '07 are the dummy lights in the handlebar clamp. If you're putting them on a Custom model, and want to change the riser/clamp arrangement to shorty risers, you'll need different dummy lights for a different handlebar clamp. The dummy-light bar on the Custom's particular riser set-up is a different length/shape than other models. It can be done. You'll also need a new clutch cable, brake line and throttle cables, if you don't want to re-bend the factory brake line and stretch the cables to their max.
If it is a Custom model, here's a thread to get you started on a riser swap: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...nd-photos.html
