Default Removing left grip?

Is it possible to remove the stock left grip without messing it up so it can be reused? If possible I would like to remove and install on another set of bars. Can this be done?

I could see this working, you would just have to remove your lever and buttons to go in from the inboard side of the grip.

However I do think grips are cheap and aftermarket are much better then stock for around $15.

2012 48. My friend suggested using a piece of coat hanger with a bend in it to be able to spin it while inserted between the grip and bar to break the glue loose. Said he found this method online but I can't find anything that doesn't involve cutting it off or damaging it. I am a bit hesitant to do this for fear of stabbing through the grip and damaging it but will if nothing else is suggested.

It's been years since I removed a grip that I wanted to save, however I did use the coat hanger and it worked.

if it is harley grip, then it is not glued. it is just hold by the switch housing with a tab. Once you remove the two bolts on the housing, you can move out the left grip with no damage at all...

Air compressor, whether it's glued or not. Lift up the edge and spray air underneath while twisting. Voila, it's off.

That way you don't have lubricant to try and get off upon reinstall.

The factory, left grips I've removed from Sportsters, were glued.

I used a rubber strap wrench on the grip to break the glue bond. I just started at the controls and worked my way to the end of the bar until the whole grip was free and it came right off.
