I ride a 2008 Sportster xl1200c with stock shocks. I have replaced the stock seat with a 2 up sundowner seat. I got a shock replacement recommendation for Legend Suspension Aero Air Suspension or Legend Suspension Revo Coil Shocks. I am looking for a more comfortable ride. Has anyone used either of these on a Sportster? What else might you recommend? Thanks for your help!
Hi Ron, you're stepping into the bear pit with this one! There are a great many brands out there chasing your spare cash. For a bit of homework I suggest you simply use Search in this Sporty section for 'shocks'. Do you have a passenger in mind for your Sundowner?! If so your choice of shocks should take that into account.
depending on what shock length you get. you wont get more then 3 to maybe, Maybe 4 inches on travel, so its not worth spending thousands.. i have 12' progressive 444 ($500) 2.75 travel up from 11 inch 1.5" travel stock rear shocks.. if you go really long in the rear. it pushes your rear end forward and mess's with the front fork travel. so you really need to think about doing front and rear. plus the price for that amount of travel is a big cost. with legend ($1200+ air and $700 coil MSRP). id rather go with rk shocks or progressive top line 970 13' coil shocks.(under 1000) if your willing to spend the money. i couldn't spend 1000 bucks on 3 inches of travel. on the 970 so i went with the 444.

Seldom riding with a passenger. Usually just solo and 90% around town.
I see you are close to me, I have a pair of RK shocks for sale, loaded with 7W. You can come and try them out if you want to.
How close are you? I may be interested in trying the RK shocks. Do you know if anyone has tried them and been satisfied with a more comfortable ride on the sportster?

Welcome from NC.
Many Sporty owners on this forum have and are using them with satisfaction. I guess anything other than the OEM shocks are a breath of fresh air (excuse the pun).
However, on the Touring forum, everyone thinks they're a POS.
As Sir Graham eluded to, there are very good brands to be had.

Zip 70774. The air shocks are great. Air is the best spring mother nature can come up with. I replaced them because I was thinking one of them developed a leak. After installing new air shocks I found oil again ... it was the damn clutch cover leaking, nothing wrong with the shocks.(Boy I felt stoopid.) Keep in mind mine are 13" and black. You are welcome to come, I have all the tools to put them on for a test ride. I am not asking arm and leg either. My help is free and $40 for pair of shocks.

I am in 38632 so it's a bit of a drive. I may get back to you on this. I have someone local with some 13" sportster shocks I may try first to see how that changes the ride geometry.
