I pulled off a pair of Screamin' Eagle Shorty and put back on a pair of Cycle Shack MXL-130 slip-ons, which originally were on the bike when I bought it last year. The Shack's are louder ("real" Harley sound, lol), the SE's are pretty quiet, slightly louder than stock.
Anyway, I'm noticing a lot of vibration that I didn't have before, pretty much all across the rpm range. I recently installed a FuelMoto tuner, I'm wondering if they need to adjust the tune for the different pipes, maybe that will help.
I've checked the pipes, everything is nice & tight.
Anyone?
You're not alone. Mine vibrates so bad now, I put it up for sale.
When you say "now", what mods did you do that it ended up so bad?
I threw my Screamin' Eagle pipes back on, and it's silky smooth again. The bike originally had the Cycle Shacks, and while louder, it didn't have a vibration issue. It's only since getting the tuner that it became an issue. I am awaiting a new map from FuelMoto for the Cycle Shack pipes, which I expect should smooth things out.
So we have several bikes with a vibration problem, following a muffler change? Doesn't make sense to me, I must confess. There surely has to be a simple answer to this. A pal of mine swapped mufflers recently on his '07 and his bike is fine.
