It's an electrical system that uses chips to simplify the wiring, especially in complex vehicles. It essentially means that every electrical feature in a vehicle does not require it's own dedicated wiring. In executive cars with all the bells and whistles it saves literally miles of wiring and also a lot of weight. The benefits on a Sporty are much less, but still worth having. It means we no longer need an electrical harness as thick as a wrist!

BMWs, Audis, Mercedes, etc. Modern cars with tons of bells and whistles that require crap tons of wiring.

Fun to drive, but the biggest pain in the but to work on.

that's not true at all. well at least for BMW. they are actually easier to work on. no joke. they are so well engineered that if you are applying force to anything other than a bolt, you are about to break it. it's unbelievable.

i've done loads to my Z. Electronic and mechanical. The bus system is so beastly, it can tell you eactly where a short is, down to the very wire. the hardest part is practicing restraint

my jeep tj is actually harder to work on and that is saying a lot. Theres just s caveman engine under that hood.

pudding proof:
