Fitted some NGK DCPR7EIX to my stage 1 Iron a few thousand miles back. Lately i've felt the bike wasn't as responsive as it used to be and a bit more vibey. I've been autotuning but just couldn't get that throttle response back and was becoming convinced it was down on power.
So I went out for a autotuning session and flashed it all back and then tried to put it through its paces. It spluttered under load and just wouldn't pull to high revs. It was misfiring.
Checked the usual terminals and earth points but all good. Might be a plug I thought. So as a process of elimination I put the old non iridium plugs back in as they came out when the bike was running perfectly. Problem solved.
Not only was the problem solved but I hadn't realised just how bad the bike had become as it degraded over time. it feels like I've had a 1200 conversion done now, lol. Instant, eager throttle response, much smoother throttle roll ons with a lot more grunt.
I'd put iridiums in based on the video below, but I guess they don't work for every bike? Anyone else had problems with them or are you using them successfully?
Had Iridiums in my Busa for a few years and worked great. Then when I got my motor work done and nitrous the builder told me that they were a big NO No
did you gap them correctly? my nkg were not gaped even thought it said pre gap. i had to gap them. not sure why they would be a no no. there are just a for efficient stock replacement.

Yes. 1.0mm.
I just don't understand why iridiums play up in some bikes? A guy was telling me his gsxr was the same, it just didn't run right with iridiums despite them being recommended to him? It ran but no where near as well as it did with ordinary plugs?
well alot of people say a stock plug is the best you can use. so i wouldn't worry about it. Id think it would be nice to know, a stock plug is all you need rather then $20 plugs.
I've run the NGK Iridium's in 3 different motors (80" Evo, 1200cc Sporty & 111" S&S) with noticeable improvement. They've become my plugs of choice over the past 4 years.

Nice call !!! I agree! Especially on a stock bike!!! Heat range is something you look at when when temps and or compression rises. These turds will run on any plug. It's a big lawn mower! Especially stock stuff!
