Default RE: How Tall is TOO Tall?

On-topic: don't ever buy a bike or a car without riding or driving it.

Slight hijack: My friend just bought an 07 1200R. He's a new rider and never even sat on the bike before buying.

He's 6'5" and hates it. He feels like an idiot. Rightly so in this case, I'm afraid, but he's a good guy...

I hope some of y'all tall guys have some ideas for him to be able to live with it. He didn't ask for my advice until after he got the bike, and being a tall guy (but with much shorter legs than him) who doesn't own a HD, I can't help a lot.

We did go out to a non-HD dealer that was nearby and sat on all the bikes. He doesn't like forward controls at all. (I don't either; I have a sportbike and a Gold Wing) So that's not an option.

Tall shocks? Tall seat? He may have to try to trade it at the HD dealer for a used Big Twin or a used Buell; I don't think a new $12K+ bike is in the budget after this fiasco.

And let me say this: If I was the Military Sales guy at the Iraq airport where my friend bought this bike, I hope I would have put my commission check out of my thoughts and suggested he wait til he got home to try out the bike before buying...

Anyway, TIA for any input.
