Oh...and GOOD snap ring pliers definitely make a difference. Don't waste your money on those cheap ones with the replaceable type heads...those are so flimsy, and just make it frustrating trying to remove or install a snap ring...specially that tiny little bastard that goes on the bottom of the clutch handle pivot. And that little bastard can fly too...took me an hour looking around my garage floor once that thing flew away when I was trying to put it on.

The question: I have read on a post the bike needs to be in 3rd gear prior to attempting to change the plates. How crucial is it being in 3rd gear, what are the advantages and if so, how can I know the bike is in 3rd gear?
