Default So working on a sissy bar

So making my own sissy bar. Been kind of a pain in the @$$ considering I never really fabricated anything and don't really have the right tools. In the end I think it will turn out pretty nice. Thinking of using this Harley dagger as part of it. If I don't like it in the end I can always remove it. Tried drilling through it to bolt it on but they actually used hardened metal and that isn't happening. Next thought was Tying it on with heavy wire. Here is a mockup. This is very thin light wire but gives me an idea what it will look like. Pictures kind of suck as its dark and phone flash isn't the best.

Looks like a nice project. Good luck with fabrication. I've never done it myself mainly due to not having right tools but plan to buy'em once I buy a house with garage again.

Very good idea, I don't know if you could secure it wiyh mechanics wire, or some type of metal locking band, something that gets tight like a zip tie, but is metal and locks. I think they use metal lock bands to seal tractor trailer doors shut, so the receiver knows the shipment hasn't been tampered with. Just an idea. I like what you are doing with that Sportster, I have an '05 with the same paint scheme. I have been thinking about a bobbed rear fender, and running no fender on the front, or a bobbed front too.

Thanks guys. I like how it's coming together. Money always holds up a project but this one was fairly cheap. Just have drill some holes to bolt it on give it a coat of paint and get some better wire and it's done. I'm thinking I can get some kind of wire at the local farm store like fencing wire or something.

Got the sissy bar done. Just need to let the paint harden more. Already messed with it to much and boogered the paint a little. Turned out good for my first attempt
