You've only got about a spare 75W-100W at most (depends on the bike it seems). That leaves you around 6-8 amps depending on your charging system.

I can't see the specs, but I know gerbing heated jacket is over 6A draw. And that's assuming maximum output. Honestly, I wouldn't run a heated jacket without an upgraded charging system, or measuring my charging system to make sure it wasn't depleting while running the jacket full high.

,,,I wish it was an XL,may be a bit small for me,,, but found some specs, " Jacket produces 65 Watts of heat with a draw of 6.5A at 12.8v.",,, has anyone here rode with a heated jacket, are they worth it?

The GF has a 1998 883. During the colder months she uses a Gerbings Heated Jacket Liner along with Gerbings Heated gloves without any problems. She also has the HD crash bar mounted lights that she uses all year round. The problem is that her charging system cannot keep up with the heated gear & the additional lights. During the winter she has to keep the lights off to stay warm so we don't do very much night time riding. She has the stock charging system, I think it's 22 amps.

I live in North Georgia and a Gerbing jacket is perfect for the kind of winters we get. It never occurred to me to check to see if I was making enough power, but I've been using mine with Harleys for about 20 years without a problem.

I ride year round in NC and use a Gerbing heated jacket liner in the cooler months. My Sporty Custom and RK both have the connections for heated gear and use without issue. The jacket is well worth it IMO.

I cheaped out and just got a small heating pad that I shove in my jacket on my chest and have it hooked up to my battery tender quick connect wire. I dont know the specs on the heating pad but it works perfectly keeping me warm and I've never had an issue with the bike.

I see some Jackets at the Harley shop come with a rechargeable battery pack, so no extra wiring and no drain on charging system.

Yes and they are beyond worth it if you ride all the time.

I bought the gloves first got the jacket next. I can ride down to 15 past that and my shield on the full face starts fogging / freezing. (it doesn't get that cold here often)

My crossbones will run my gloves the wifes gloves and my jacket liner.
