We are mostly adults and treat each other as so.

The Run/Stop (kill) switch on the handlebars exists for one reason, it's mandated by US federal law as an emergency device, like if you crash and the bike is laying on its right (key switch) side making the key switch inaccessible.
Factory manuals encourage its use to develop a "muscle memory" (reflex) habit of hitting it in emergency situations.
Like the 100's of other warnings the manuals are filled with, it's the Moco's way of doing CYA by encouraging its use.
The key switch and run/stop switch are wired in series, either/or will kill the motor, but the heavier duty contacts in the key switch will likely withstand frequent use over a longer period of time.
