Default Kill switch sound normal?

When I'm coming to a stop at home I hit the kill switch [as the manual says to] and coast into my driveway. Sometimes when I hit the kill switch my motorcycle makes a sound that sounds like a combination of a burp and a horse snorthing it's nose. Other times it does not make the sound.
Is this normal, or should I only hit the kill switch when I am at a complete stop?
I don't want to have my noisy bike wake up the people at my home, and also don't want to make a complete stop in the street, and then walk the bike down my driveway.

It's just kicking back a little as by dumb luck you were high on the compression stroke. Don't worry about it.

I almost have never used the kill switch on any bike I've owned.
Killing a bike before it comes to a full stop is asking for trouble.

i do it all the time. hurts nothing. i hold the clutch in and drift in to my driveway.

last i checked, that is also the way that one would push start anyway.

you are basically saying dont move a bike if it isn't on....

I use the kill switch all the time. After I ride up my drive way, I use the kill switch as I enter my gararge and coast to where I park the bike. Never heard that kind of sound so can't say it's "normal". Do you have a carbureted bike?

How would your engine know that the bike is moving when you shut it off?

I use the kill switch sometimes when I get lazy from a long ride. My driveway is fairly long and slopes downhill a bit, so I just coast in. Has never made any sort of noise.
