Hey everyone. So I picked up my 3rd Nightster today...man I just love these bikes. First one I had 5 years ago but sold it after my son was born. I picked one up a month ago but after going over it, there was quite a bit more work needed to be done than I was really wanting to do (or pay for) so I was able to sell it for a small profit....then today I picked up this 2008 Nightster with ONLY 1100 miles on it!
He was asking $8000 I paid $7000 which is over Blue Book value but with only 1100 miles plus the add ons it came with I am happy with the purchase. Custom painted tank, velociraptor intake, v&h short shots, mustang 2up seat, sissy bar, mini apes, tuned properly (thank God) and a few other goodies I was going to add on anyway. I do have a couple changes I will make to "make it my own"....but I feel like I saved a few bucks. Anyway here are a couple pics!
Yea, that seat is the Mustang Fastback, I have the same seat and i like how it holds you in riding position well, Nice bike! Tank looks pretty plain, but I am a huge fan of the stock nightster pin stripe and harley script so I think im partial...

It is the Mustang seat
And the tank is going to be retained next week haha, I'm not a fan of plain, and I like blasting that HD logo on the tank!

Glad to hear it! I didn't want to blast it because it because I didnt know if you were keeping it "as-is" and it doesn't look TERRIBLE, just out of place on that bike.
The last nightster was too much of a basket case? It looked pretty nice, but looks can be deceiving...
Glad you were able to turn around and get another one that you can enjoy.

It was in I would say "decent" shape. It had some stains on the casing I couldn't seem to get off, bottom of the pipes were scuffed up (I didn't notice until later after I bought it), and the whole not being tuned thing was driving me nuts. It was just not running proper and my buddy who works at a Cycle shop came over and it was gonna cost a bit more than just a tune to get it up and going.
Plus I REALLY wanted black fenders..minor I know haha..it wouldn't have been the end of the world but I'm glad to have them now.
And since I was able to make a small profit on it (I did inform the new owner of all the above issues) I decided to sell and pick this one up.
As far as tank I'm thinking the blue is almost a little too bright for the rest of the bike...I really like old school flake and the Harley "1" logo on the side, similar to my old setup a few years back. I do like the blue, I do not like the lack of Harley Logo. So I might go with a darker color and go that route.

I came across a GM color, "Indigo Blue Metallic" a decade ago, loved it so much i painted my '65 mustang that color. i think with a little more flake, it could be a badass color for a tank on your bike. your original nightster's tank looked pretty awesome, so whatever you decide to do im sure it will be pretty sweet.
and I totally get the "black fenders" thing, with the denim silver, you either love it and leave it all alone, or replace it all. not alot of in-between options that will look good. MAYBE a gold tank with silver fenders? still a gamble.....
I think the biggest problem with the tank is its non-metallic appearance without graphics. if your not going flake or metallic, it looks unfinished without graphics or emblems....
