Default Odometer problem

Trip Odometer won't show up when the reset button is pressed. When pressed a red P shows up in the speedometer face. Tried the troubleshooting in the manual. Code d01clr shows up but can't be cleared by holding the reset button for 5 seconds. Any thoughts?

Or likes wasting time responding to a thread, only to find out the OP is talking about a different bike than the one you guessed at.

The DTC is from 03 and earlier, but he has 2 Harley's that fit that era.

And it wouldn't be the first time a BT owner posted in the Sporty section.
