So my wife finally took the plunge and got herself an XL1200L (in addition to her Tri-Glide). Been a while since she has been on 2 wheels but she is pretty excited over getting on it. Once the rain stops here in NoCal she and I will get out and get her some practice.

She started on the Trike at her daughter's request- her son was killed by a non-attentive cager who just couldnt wait to get to the PetSmart, so she pulled a left hand turn in front of him...that was 10 years ago this past August and is why my wife rides, in memory of him. Her daughter just last year gave her blessing to go with 2 wheels if she so desired. She found a great bike and got it for $2K less than what the dealer was asking (helps to be active HOG members for that dealership apparently!).

Anyways, she has had it a week, I have found a service manual on eBay for it so now I have to learn the mechanics of Sportys...

All I know is that my softail/blank canvas/tinker commuter bike is coming this summer come hell or high water...

Nice post. I got a used 11 XL1200L in 13 from a senior citizen whose wife convinced him to give up riding. It was a great handling machine. I did do some touring on it.

Since I toured and the XL1200T Superlow came out I traded it in for one. The dealer gave me the $7,200 that I paid for it a year earlier with only 2K on it and it was at 7K when I traded.

Here it is at Sturgis.

No, that was from about 2 years ago...

My wife already has her Tri-Glide...the Sporty is for her...besides with all the bling on it, it is really a girls bike. While its a nice bike, not what I really want for myself.
