Default Tank lift YAY or NAY?

Been throwing around the idea of doing a tank lift, wire tuck, coil and ignition relocation to my 883. Wanted to hear some of your opinions from people who've done it and those who decided it wasn't for them. Thank you in advance.

I don't think there's any downside, but I also don't think there's any upside other than aesthetics. Some'll claim improved cooling, but I doubt there's a noticeable difference personally.

When you look at your bike.. does the tank look wrong? When my bike was stock, there was one thing at a time that just stood out to me as .. wrong looking, and I'd change it. Then something else'd stand out as wrong.. and I'd change that.. rinse and repeat until it pleases your eye.

It's only got to please you. Mine looks right to me.

Personally I think they look OK but I've never done a lift due to not having a reason to. You'll loose a bit of useable fuel but probably not much. The wire tuck makes the bike look much better. I did one on my previous bike with a 4.5 gallon tank no lift. I made my own coil relocation bracket and it kept breaking so I purchased a real one from DK Customs. I liked the position of the ignition so I just modified the stock bracket and left it where it was.

I wish there was a way to lower the tank a little.

As far as aesthetics go, the relocates and a wire tuck improve it enough.

I have seen threads on this board and others dealing with 'lift-less' wire tucks. IMHO they look awesome. You have to squat to see most of the wires.

The Tank lift is really up to you. I like how it looks on my bike but some bikes look great without it. Just order the whole kit from DK Customs and then decide if you like the tank lift or not. You will be very happy you relocated the coil and the ignition and clean up the wiring and tuck it. Bike will look 100 times better in a matter of 20-30 minutes. Mine looked great! One thing I would recommend is some fuze tape. The stuff is awesome and only sticks to its self and wont get all nasty like electrical tape. You can grab a complete kit( tank lift, ign and coil relocate, spark plug wires) for a little over 100 bucks. Hope this helps ya a little!

My only regret about my 2" tank lift is I wish I had gone 2.5". I love it for my bike, but it's definitely a personal preference. I've noticed about a .25 gal loss of fuel capacity on my 4.5 gal tank, but for the way I ride it's not a big deal

+1 On the self-fusing tape.

I vote yes. I did it all on my 1200C and I love the look. I love the lines it gave the bike and the stance of the tank once it was lifted and the wires were tucked away. Real clean. Personal preference? Yes. But then again, that's what we're here to share with you.

I had a 2" and went to a 2.5". Very happy I did. Gave the bike a little better look in my opinion.
