Oh....I see your problem. You don't like projects.

I enjoy wrenching on my bike, but I have to admit, chasing down a problem can be irritating as hell.

BTW, you probably won't find a '95-'96 FSM at the dealership. Everything from that era is considered obsolete. I have seen a few on eBay for the $75 to $90 range. I took a little time and found one (along with a parts manual) for my '93 on an auction listing and got both for $25. So look around.

All your problems sound pretty simple, and mostly in the carb. The tranny problem is probably rider induced if you're getting all gears to engage and stay in gear.

Like has been mentioned, check for intake / vacumn leaks, check your VOES connection as well, etc...

Take the problems one at a time and tackle them. It's nice getting to know your ride.

I have no problem wrenching. In fact, I love it. It's just been nothing but problems since the day I bought it and I am getting frustrated.

I just stopped by the dealership and they can order a service manual for $65 the guy said.

My wife was looking at the new bikes and started thinking it might be better to just have a new one.. and honestly I don't blame her. Something that reliably starts and runs would be great.

Wise move on both counts! Parts for older bikes are indeed drying up, however the MoCo still publishes manuals going back to the Ark.

Does your wife ride? Or would she if you had a suitable reliable bike? We can help!

1) Don't buy the manual if you are going to sell it.
2) Don't sell it if you have the room, and financial resources for two bikes. Keep the old one as a project bike for the fun of it.....because it's fun to have something to wrench on.
3) If the wife starts thinking it might be better to get a new bike, then why are you still standing there?

Well we live in a 1 bedroom apt with a 1 car garage. The bike fits in the garage with my wife's Jetta, but no way a second one would fit in there with it, sadly. Financially I can probably keep both, but we don't have the room and she won't ride it anyway. I tried to convince her to get her M1, but she refuses and just enjoys being on the back of mine.

Then the way forward is clearly marked with road signs.
