Anyone just paint the A/C cover on their Nightsters???
I got a Nightster and I've read where people are buying a new black "Ham Can" air cover from Harley but has anyone just painted it black?
If you have could you tell me what paint you used. And if someone thinks this is a bad idea please tell me why? Thanks for the info.

No, but I'm about ready to. I ordered a black matching cover on March 11 and it is now showing a ship date of JUNE 16th!!! I'm looking at other options.

I, too, would like to see/read about paiting the air breather cover. Flat black would look good. I don't see why it can't be done. I wonder if some high temp paint like the kind used for brake rotors would do? I like the "feel" of the cover, just not the "look". Should be an easy mod I would think.
Looks good. I may end up going that route. But as I said earlier, I like the finish that is on the stock Nightster ham can. I am still trying to decide whether to powder coat all my HD Skull accs. or etch and flat black them. I would like the A/C to follow the theme. I like powder coating and on a vivid black Nightster it really fits. But on olive drab/black denim - seems flat black would be the way to go on everything.

two questions:
Werbeck - how tall are those apes on the Nightster, I am thinking about doing something like that and I would like to know how yours are to give me a reference.

I know it sounds funny, but I've used barbecue grill paint for painting high temp auto part before and it has turned out great. I used it to paint the sidepipes on a factory five cobra I used to have and they looked really good (although a little dirty in the pic below.)
