If the check engine light came on the bike will help you find the problem(s). All you have to do is read the codes to find out what's wrong and follow the clues. It's much better than guessing :-)

This recently happened to me. It was a bad regulator. My battery was not being recharged as I was riding. Super easy fix.
But before you go buy a regulator,...check through your charging system (battery, stator and regulator). Stickies for that too in the "electrical/lighting/alarm" section.
This also happened to me twice. Each time it was the negative terminal on the battery had come loose, and it was causing me to lose power. Make sure those things are tight!
