Default Risers for an Iron

I'm thinking about getting risers for my iron. I think I've narrowed it down to 4.5" rise with 1.5" pull back. With stock bars.
I was hoping to get feed back. Is this a good height? Too high? Too low?
Also, how is the ride, turns etc? Is there a significant change?
Thanks

If you get curved risers, your speedometer will need to be relocated. I tried to put the standard pull back risers (I think 3") from Harley on my 2014 Iron and ended up with a vertical speedometer that was unusable. I ended up with 2" straight risers to bring the height up. If you want pull back, try a different handlebar (I think the forty-eight bar will work).

I have the exact combo you're talking about. The speedo will
indeed look 'off' (stupid IMHO) if you do not relocate it. I went
with the 'old style' mount, but you can do whatever you like, maybe
mount to the side off the frame, etc. 4.5" rise is the minimum
if you're going 1.5 pullback, otherwise you'll hit the tank. If you're
considering a tank lift, then you'll need to figure extra for that. The
stock brake line is going to get really tight too.

Here's some pics:

hope this helps,

T.

This looks great! I think this is what I was going for. Thanks for the pics!

Did you find any difference in the ride? Like when going around bends or turning? Did you find it more comfortable?

I can't tell from the pic but did you do a tank lift or is it just a wire tuck and coil relocate?

Thanks! Your torso is more upright, no need to lean forward as before.
Turns are about the same, or better, each person has their preferences.

No tank lift (I dont personally like them), but as I said above, you
would need to account for that if you do one. 4.5" rise/1.5" pullback
is the minimum you can get away with for stock tank configuration.
If you want to raise the tank, then you will need to account for that
with your risers....

good luck,

T.

I agree on the tank lift. Did you find it hard to tuck all the wires?

It's not 'hard' per se, it will just be a bit tedious. After you get
all the plastic crap out of the way & the harness sorted out, you'll
figure it out. Recommend you use the advanced search feature,
you'll find quite a few detailed threads on how to do it.

good luck,

T.

So I put in the risers and they are really good. You are right about the tank lift as they just clear the tank as it is.
I left the speedo where it is but , again, you are right about it being very upright. I can still see it but it doesnt look right. I might put a fairing or a dart windscreen and that will hide it. Or else i will relocate.

Mine was much worse because I had the windshield installed. I don't ride without a windshield. I don't understand why everyone turns the mirrors upside down instead of getting longer ones either. Good thing I traded my Iron in on a Street :-)
