Yesterday, after riding for a while, I stopped at the local Chevron and put gas in the bike. I figure I added about 1.5 gallons. The problem is, I had a brain fart and put in Regular (87 octane) instead of premium. Ina 4.5 gallon tank is this going to hurt anything?
I dont think it should. Put on about 30 miles or so and then add the good stuff. See what happens when you try to go the cheap way out. Dont let any one tell you they have not did that. If they did they are BS you.
Probably not, but for a little peace of mind you can pick up some octane booster and throw it in. If'in ya engine pre-detonates or pings thats not so good...
Forget about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have run 87 octane in mine since day one, 28k miles later not one problem. All this crazy talk about octane boost and running lean is just that BS
Okay, is it a 883 or a 1200? 1200's have higher compression and factory recommends 91 proof. A 883 can tolerate a lower octane rating thanks to lower compression. Savvy?

They are correct....It's all BS. 87 will not hurt it, whether it's an 883 or 1200. I find myself putting in 87 every couple fill ups. I just did it last night even. Yes, the higher octane is recommended by the MOCO, but is not necessary every single time.
