So trying to get some of the DIY brake lines kits. It looks like there is 10mm banjo bolts and 3/8 banjo bolts. Anybody on here know which one would come on 2010 iron?
You can check details like that on-line here. The answer is 10mm, but check for yourself!
Thank you for that invaluable link! It will be sure to come in handy forever. However I'm in the same pickle barrel - and the link only says #12 = 10 mm. It don't specify 10 mm 1.0 or 10 mm 1.25. Judging from the next reply by a fella saying he got the 1.25 and they don't fit, I'm gonna take a plunge and order 1.0
It should be 10x1.25 banjos for 04-12 XL models. Not sure what the other guy was dealing with. Maybe he bought a 3/8"-24 bolt that sometimes is called 10mm but it wasn't actually the metric threading.
I know others have done this same mod and it has worked, but does the master cylinder have the volume capacity to actuate two brake calipers? I am sure it does, still it is something that crosses the mind
Never mind, I just realized you are not adding another caliper.
The system was designed for two..

You mean so you can add a second rotor up front, and keep the same M/C?
Single and dual disc MC have a different bore - not sure about the stroke but it matters not, as the MC are different for each application. For proper performance you will need a dual disc MC.
Makes sense given twice the number of pistons to push
3/8 is not a M10 bolt, and you will need a proper metric bolt. Some would use a 3/8 banjo on a M10 bolt, but I would rather not
Buy new crush washers while you are at it.
M10 x 1 is common with a Brembo MC but I doubt it will fit your HD. Given that 1.25 is not it, then the only remaining choice is M10 x 1.5. If your bike is like mine, then it is 1.5 pitch
My problem with banjo bolts is finding a double banjo M12 x 1.5 to use with 10mm thick banjos from HEL. The bolt I bought must be for a car and thicker banjos so will not work. I cannot find a proper bolt, and neither HEL nor Goodridge seems to have one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Machining a bolt is my last resort, as it is difficult to believe that no one makes such a double bolt?
If I have to machine a banjo bolt, I will incorporate a bleed screw at the MC banjo
