Cosmetics are for chicks.

I also don't get how they are ugly either. Just some pipe. But I am not as sensitive as some. I would not have a bike without them. All 3 of my bikes have them. As said cheap insurance.

I drop mine all the time. But I go lots of places other people wouldn't go. Though I have dropped em plenty of times in places I shouldn't. I just don't care. Get off, and pick it up, on my way.

WTF. We all know what they look like. Sure don't need the same bike over and and over again from every angle, unless some chick is on it. Even than, to many angles.

Thanks, here's another angle, but no chicks!

Yellow, proves you don't care about cosmetics.

This is why I went black.

It's pretty muted and sticks to the script of my ride!

One of the reasons I bought my first Harley was because of it's color, yellow. Different strokes for different folks?

I'm with you when it comes to the more naked bikes...fugly. On baggers/touring bikes I think they are more fitting, make for great highway pegs, and provide good protection...those bikes are heavier and easier to drop. I had one on my 2000 FLSTS and it looked fine. I can't stand the looks of windshields either, but they are a must for me if I'm on a trip.

Engine guards serve a purpose. I have an engine guard but have never gone down and don't intend to....I'd rather damage the engine guard than my AC or other costly parts....easy and cheap to replace an engine guard. My engine guards also have LED running lights.

I think the 1200C looks fine with an engine guard.....but for the 48 and 72 modified probably wouldn't match....but again, it serves a purpose.

I have engine guards on my vaquero, but not on my roadster. Sometimes they fit, sometimes they don't. They're practical, sure... but my roadster is anything but practical, so it might as well look bare bones.

if you like them, and want them... go for it.
if you dont like them, and don't want them.... up to you.

I'm personally indifferent.

Deep breather intake on right and relocated oil filter on left. The guard protects them and me. My BO has forward controls so delivery room stirrup riding isn't necessary.

Put them on every bike that I have ever had. Even the XR.
