I went down at 85 on the highway after hydroplaning in a puddle. It saved my left leg a lot of pain and damage. Contrary to popular belief, they don't just fold back. Mine stayed rigid and ground down to the center. The hole in the center was about 5/16", so the HD brand is tough. Run it if you like it, don't if not. I think they are ugly, but damned glad I had one that day.

Been riding harleys since '78. Almost every bike has had a guard on it. Never once seen or even heard of the fender hitting the guard on suspension compression. What brand guard does that?

Not on mine! I've ridden with crash-bars for umpteen years and like Not E'nuff Harley above have never come across any problems when riding with them, either front only or f&r. Hitting the front fender would, I suspect, be the least of our worries, when hitting an obstacle big enough to do that!
