I tried a small windshield, buffeting was awful. I have a Plexifairing now, no buffeting, but it's too hot in summer - not enough air behind to cool down with a mesh jacket. Sure is nice in cold weather, and does a good job keeping rain off. It's quick mounting, too. Not sporty looking, though, it's fairly large.
Looking for a windshield for my 2008 Sportster 883. I'm 6'1". Any suggestions?
I'm 6'2". I ride a 1200 C. I took the attachment hardware from an hd windshield and had a plexiglass company build me a windshield that would be the correct dimensions for me. They fitted it to the attachment hardware that I provided them. I then put it on my bike. Great results. Cost 195.00. Took them 3 hours.
I got a 18.5 in National Cycle Spartan windshield with the quick release bracket. I am 5'11" and it comes up to my nose which is what they say it supposed to do. I measured prior to ordering. It stops the buffeting but I still get some wind not bad though. Be sure to measure before you buy. There is a youtube vid on it. I was going to get the HD windshield but HD was out of stock.
I like the little slipstreamer spitfire. totally configurable to go high, or angle it down a bit on the road to go really low, and give you a lot of air. cheap, and made REALLY well. highly recommend. sportsters dont look too good with giant windshields, this one does what is needed, and nothing else, its minimal Id say
I have the HD 18" quick disconnect, which would give me horrible helmet buffeting. So I modified the lower clamp mount to achieve a more drastic angle. Now I don't get my head rattled.
I have an HD SuperSport quick detach shield, p/n 57838-08. By positioning it as low as possible it has the least buffeting. I'm 6'0" and have an '07 XL1200C.
