I've read all the comments and you all make valid points.

I tested the iron 883 and the roadster at my local HD dealer before i decided what to buy.
Seeing i just required my license (2 months ago) i felt that the 1200 and up was not a good start for me.
The iron 883 was a much more relaxed and fun testride, didn't like the ergonomics of the roadster and i felt a 1200 was to heavy for me.

Since i been lurking here a couple of months, i know the powergains from stage 1 are minimal. So, as for most, the addons will be more for looks and sounds but if i gain some power from it it's still better then nothing right?
If i didn't want to pour money into a bike i would have bought a japanese bike, maybe new pipe and done but where is the fun in that.

Like i said in my original post, i will brake the iron in stock and gain more experience on the road in the process.
Will i get tired of the iron? will i outgrow it fast? Will i do stage 1?

Maybe, maybe not but thats why i want to do my research and ask some more experience riders.

Not gonna do a 1200 conversion because then i think i would want to buy a new one with an M8 engine...

Thanks all for giving your opinions, much appreciated.
Only you will have the correct answer to most, if not all your questions. Time will tell.

We used to joke that the 1200 should be lighter than an 883, because the holes down the cylinders are bigger! In reality those two are almost identical in weight, the reason the Roadster felt heavier is that it is around 3" taller off the ground than the Iron, so will feel more of an effort when manhandling it.

Interesting to know, never thought of that.
