I have a 2014 iron and was wondering if I took off the muffler and added torque cones or biltwell exhaust tips to the headers if I would run too lean or damage my motor please and thank you I'm new to bike modding so please be gentle
the single best thing to do to get more power out of an 883 is upgrade it to a 1200 or 1250.
then worry about little tweaks like adjusting backpressure.
if you still want to do that and are worried about running lean put on some xieds. or get a tuner with autotune.

I usually ain't one to believe in snake-oil remedies when it comes to bikes, butI had a '99 Softail with straight pipes. I installed homemade torque cones & I swear I could tell the difference--more low end.
But; yes--punch her out to 1200. You will love it!
Def I will eventually get to the conversion when I've had the bike for a bit but I just wanted to go cheap on the exhaust stuff for now so I can save for the big bore. So if i go straight pipes and add torque cones I should be ok

dunno where the cats are on the iron. if they're in the head pipe then you may not need the torque cones. it'll be louder. not sure if thats a good thing.
you should be ok with just doing the exhaust side. if it starts running hot you can slap some xieds on there or buy a tuner. you'll want a tuner anyway when you go to upgrade to the 1200.

Torque Cones do very little, even on drag pipes/straight headers.
You would be much better off with some home-made lollipops or even better with Thunder Torque Inserts.
