You'll get a lot of opinions on this.
I say do the 1200 kit first, ride it a while, and then decide.
You might decide to go for cams, or maybe 1200 heads with bigger valves, or maybe both.
That way will give you something else to look forward to later.

Umpteen threads on this subject and multiple options! A popular choice in here is a Hammer 1250/1275 kit, which on its own gives a serious boost in performance. Simply use Search for '1250' and have a browse, also check their website, for stacks of useful info.

I say do the upgrade first and see how you like it too. I used the Hammer 1250 kit and I'm happy now. You might want to do Rockouts or Rocker Lockers at the same time. After I did the upgrade I really noticed the valve train noise more for some reason and then went back in and corrected that.
