Default Tired of tailgaters

I am riding in to work this morning, on the Gold Wing since my Harley is still in the shop 2 months after my rear ending incident, and there is this guy following pretty close behind me. At first he was just following close, then once we got to this straight stretch he was full on tailgating me. This aint the highway either, we are talking windy back roads. The speed limit was 45 and I was already going 60 and not about to speed just so this guy’s demented reality where he is the ruler of the road can be fulfilled. So I wave my hand down at my side as a way of saying “back the hell off”, then he immediately switches lanes and passes me in the no passing zone. So as he goes by I show him the proper salute, he beeps angrily at me, then starts tailgating the guy that was in front of me. What the hell do people think? Don’t they realize that if I have to stop quickly for anything they will end up running right over me? I am already jacked about getting rear-ended once, if it happens again I am going to snap. I have a 2 part solution to this problem. 1- It IS legal to openly carry a fire-arm in PA. So I will begin riding with my 12 Gauge strapped to my back. Let’s see who wants to **** off the guy with the shotgun. 2- I am putting a patch on the back of my jacket that says “If you can read this… I am going to F***ing kill you” Sorry, I just needed to vent in a way that will not land me in jail for the night.

First I will do hand signal then turn on my hazard lights, if It doesn't work, put your bike on the side and let him passes you. What can you do? They always think they can stop as fast as motorcycle but hell no. Bummer!

The shotgun sounds like a good idea, ever since i learned how fast bikes could stop compared to their 3500lb car counterparts even my 6 piston hi performance calipers dont make my cage stop in anywhere near the distance of my sporty. Since my MSF course I' ve stayed wayyyyy back from them like 7 seconds following distance. Which is more than twice what i ussually did for cars and bikes (3 seconds) as i was taught back in the day. What model 12 guage is it, full choke?

Didn't you know that every vehicle on the road is more important than you and they have places to go???

i had a guy once get on my *** while riding downtown, i mean a foot away from my rear tire. He started flashing his headlights at me at first, then turned on his hazard lights. I mean he was going nuts. I thought maybe he saw something i didnt like my rear tire was about to come off or something and he was trying to warn me about it. He continued to flash his headlights and turn on his signals and hazards over and over even at the next stoplight. When it turned green i went forward then pulled over figuring there must be something wrong with my bike. Nope, as he went by i looked over and he flipped me off. We were downtown for christs sake, i was going the speed of traffic, he just didnt like my bike in front of him i guess. I got back on my bike, and raced to catch him. I got behind him and at the next light got off my bike and went up to his the drivers side door and pounded on his window and motioned for him to roll his window down. He looked straight ahead like he didnt see me with a scared look on his face. Just your typical guy in a business suit. The light turned green and he sped off. I followed him for along time, hoping he would pull over but he never did. He wound up running a red light to get away from me. ****er.

ive had a few instances where this has happened. Once it was a lady, she tailgated me like crazy and at a stoplight actually pulled her car so close up to me it was halfway besides me in my lane. I took my fist and hit her hood, she pulled back but then drove eratically like she was going to hit me so i pulled over. I follwed her, she finally got to her destination and jumped out of her car with her cellphone on and said "im calling the cops!" then jumped back in her car. I went over and headbutted her windshield a few times. Not good for my helmet. I am a hothead i admit it, but dam some people just get to me.

Are you serious?

If so you are a very lucky person, as many people are not going to be 'terrified' of you just because you are riding a motorcycle.

I can understand getting upset, but racing on a bike to catch up with a vehicle and then pounding on their window (with either your fist or head) is crazy... Hell, if I "did what I thought need to be done" to everyone that pissed me off I'd be sitting in jail for the rest of my life.

You are lucky that after having a fit like that you didn't end up standing there watching a 4,000 pound vehicle driving right over the top of your much smaller Sportster, or in a worse case situation looking down the barrel of a .45 right before it blew you back into reality.

People need to get a grip, even if they are pissed off.

I just have a single shot break action, no idea what the choke is, but I'll tell you what, that gun is freakin scary when you fire some high brass 3" magnums out of it.
